A47 Acle Roundabout to Great Yarmouth – safety improvements

Following a formal statutory process, I am writing to let you know that we're reducing the speed limit on the A47 between Acle Roundabout and Great Yarmouth in the following section:

• Between Acle Roundabout and Great Yarmouth from the National Speed Limit of 60mph to 50mph.

Work also includes the installation of speed limit signage and four new average speed cameras to enforce the new speed limits. We are not responsible for the enforcement of speed limits, that responsibility lies with the relevant police force.

This location was chosen based on collision and risk assessment data. This scheme aims to improve safety for all road users by reducing the number of people harmed on this route.

We are planning to start work on Monday 17 March 2025. This will last approximately 9 weeks. We will work overnight between 8pm and 6am on weeknights only, weather permitting.

During the first week, we are combining our planned road closures with those needed for the nearby A47 Blofield to North Burlingham project, to reduce the amount of roadworks and disruption to road users.
