In January 2019 Town Councillors approved an increase in the Costessey Council Tax share from 01 April 2019 which is collected by South Norfolk Council. The £4.21 per year increase in purely to keep the street lights on in a transfer of tax as the equivalent amount will be removed from your bill by South Norfolk Council. This means the net effect for the Costessey share is no increase, but of course the other authorities have indicated they will be increasing tax to provide their services.
The 3.8% notional increase from £113.74 per annum to £117.95 per annum assumes two adults live in a Band D property paying the full charge. Higher and lower bands pay different rates with South Norfolk Council administering discounts, exemptions and benefits.
In February Norfolk County Council, South Norfolk Council and Norfolk Constabulary will decide on their charges, which combined make up the full Council Tax charge. Bills are issued in March with full explanations.
