Queen’s Hills - New proposals for the siting of the Community Hall and changing rooms were agreed by the Parish Council on the 2nd September. A well attended meeting heard that the developers would be submitting plans to build the hall to the south of the football pitches closer to the residential areas. There would be a small car park adjacent to Ringland Lane and the bus ‘gate’. This would allow parishioners to walk to the hall from the north.
The bus gate splay will be broadened and new hedges or trees will be planted to replace any that are lost.
Hopefully, West End will see a regular service sometime in the new year.
Street Calming & Pinch Points - most of us have views as to the effectiveness (or not) of speed humps and pinch points. However, some parishioners have commented that parking awkwardly near these humps and pinch points can cause problems to pedestrians and delays to traffic. Can we ask that if you must park on our streets and roads, think how your vehicle affects other users.
.
Overgrown Hedges - Parishioners are asked to keep a watchful eye on hedges and trees that overhang public footpaths. They can cause problems for the disabled, the elderly and mums with prams. Please trim back to alleviate problems.
Doggy Poo - Dog owners please note that from the 11thAugust 2008 Dog owners who do not clear up after their dogs on any public area. South Norfolk’s Environmental Crime Team will patrol public areas and can issue spot fines of £50.
Persistent offenders can be prosecuted and fined up to £1000. (Please note that if you want to complain, you must be prepared to sign a formal witness statement.)
Bawburgh Lane to Long Lane Footpath - We are still on the lookout for anyone who has regularly used the footpath for more than 20 years. Please CONTACT US with details so that we can help Bawburgh Parish Council in their efforts to make the path a definitive right of way.
Wheelie Bins - What ever your feelings about the pros and cons of wheelie bins, one thing that is really un-neighbourly is leaving them out on the pavements and footways far too early or way after they have been emptied.
They look untidy and cause problems to passers by particularly the elderly, the disabled and those with prams.
Wheelie bins can be left out for up to 24 hours to allow collections. Longer than that could result in letters from South Norfolk Council and possible fines.
Grave Concerns - A reminder to those who have family members buried in St Edmund’s and Costessey Burial Cemetery. The annual Health & Safety check will take place in November. This is to ensure that memorials are secure.
If they are not, they will be marked and, where next of kin are known, they will be written to asking for suitable repairs to be made. In the interests of public safety, any memorials that are very unsafe will be secured to a post and the families notified where possible.
